Counterintuitive Love

So for the millionth time
I watched Vicky Christina Barcelona

A Woody Allen film set in Barcelona
Narrated in a storybook sort of way, telling a tale of two friends on a summer vacation
Polar opposites when it comes to love
but figuring out what love and happiness really means

The story takes on twists and turns
forces us to think deeply about the human condition
norms and cliches

what is this this thing called love anyway?
Is it some kind of intense passion?
Stability?
A commitment?
and what does it mean to be happy?

My take (which i finally figured recently):
love just is
...

It is what it is to you
whatever formula you create to calculate
I mean, love is the most beautiful and greatest gift in the world
yet
sometimes
we think too hard, too long and too deep
creating something so big in our heads that it couldnt possibly be love unless there is this and that

If you think you're in love
then you are
and no one can tell you otherwise
(I fell in love with a boy at 13 and loved him for the next 5 years....)

Love
it grows and it takes on different forms
but that's just my take

ok I'm done with that
but I'm allowed to go on and on about it cuz it V-day month!
...
sigh
...

Anyway, back to the movie

It's comedic
its deep
and perfectly unexpected

The dialogue is very believable
 the characters are relatable
the color story is warm
and there's something about the way the music comes in and out at just the right moments
that makes the story even more appealing

Mr. Allen definitely takes us through Barcelona
showing us some of Gaudi's works
letting us listen to the alluring Spanish guitar
....
Beautiful

(Gaudi's La Sagrada Familia)

Its one movie I can watch over and over again, picking up something new each time and never getting tired of it.

One of my fave quotes:
"Only unfulfilled love can be romantic"
(Don't agree but I like the quote nonetheless)

And
Javier Bardem is just wonderful

(and you
you speak my language
and that just might be
the sweetest part)
