Last night I was catching up on the Paris Fashion Week S/S '11 shows.
Syle.com.
I spend a lot of time on the designers I love and admire
and completely ignore the ones I don't care for.
Junya Watanabe just happened to be a skip
but...
It was a Saturday night, I had just returned to the city after a long bus ride, I had a few hours to burn before bedtime
Why not?
I clicked on his collection and scrolled through
Not bad at all...
I actually really liked it. All about stripes. A very plain and simple concept executed brilliantly.
(my fave look)
Hmmm....
Interesting...
Next, I decided to see some of the past collections I missed
Spring 2009
(I.kind.of.love.this.collection)
Talk about African prints done right!
I love it because it tells a sort of story.
A real East meets West.
African girl meets Beverly Hillbilly.
We've got apples, hearts, beachballs, eyeballs, lips and even a paisley in combinations that transform into African prints.
And then...
The gingham, the denim, the eyelet, the straw and wildflower filled head wraps...
Very artistic, brilliantly done
I guess Junya Watanabe is now added to my list of designers to follow
