YSL

"... their body, face... the way they walk and hold their heads... gives meaning to the whole creation"
- Yves Saint Laurent about black models.

I remember when he passed in 2008. I didn't know much about him so I quickly did some research but didn't get too deep into it

For some reason, I have never enjoyed history classes. I just don't like it. Fashion history is a requirement at my school and I really, really, really did not want to take it. I tried so hard to take the easy way out and take it online so I could put in minimum effort. I would probably just read a page or two a week and write down some thoughtless response. I was literally checking the course listing online every 2 minutes waiting for an opening in the online classes.

But, since for some reason I always get screwed over when registering for classes, I ended up having to take the course in a traditional classroom

I know, I know
I love fashion
but I hate history
and so... I figured I would hate fashion history too. I felt I already knew what I needed to know and would rather spend the 2 hours and 40 minutes of class time sewing, designing and working on my other homework

But...
since every disappointment is a blessing, I ended up LOVING my fashion history class. So inspiring.

Anyway, today was our final and last day of lecture.
Next week I give my historicism presentation

Today we watched an Yves Saint Laurant documentary.

Men, it was really great! The way he talks about fashion, his motivation, his passion. Its simply beautiful.

He worked as Christian Dior's apprentice
and
the fist time Mr. Dior met his mother, he expressed his desire to have Yves to take over his couture house.
So... after Dior died in 1957, the young 21 year old took over this famous couture house.

amazing!!

(so good looking!)
